OUR FOUNDER

Our vicar, John Leonard, is a founder member of Summer Moon.  He retired at the end of June 2018 and we thank him for all the fantastic things he has done for the festival and our local community.

It was John’s idea to have a beer and music festival on the Parish Meadow.  Without him, Kingskerswell Summer Moon simply would not have started at all!

Yes, our abseiling, motor-biking, sheep-rearing, Morris dancing, car-rallying John has retired after 45 years’ service as a priest, 29 years with the local community and 10 years with Summer Moon.

It is clear that John reached out not only to church goers but also to a huge range of local residents with love, humour, kindness, support, enthusiasm, care and consideration (some of us occasionally also detected chaos!).

We fondly wish John a long, healthy and happy retirement.  He will be sorely missed.

GEOFFREY ELLIS-SMITH

Geoff was also a founder member of Summer Moon. Sadly, he passed away in December 2018. The festival will never be quite the same without him.
